These exemptions allow the Department of Homeland Security<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(DHS<\/a>) to bypass several environmental laws, such as the National Environmental Policy Act, which normally require ecological impact studies for infrastructure projects. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-6 ai-optimize-introduction\">The affected sections are in the Yuma, Tucson and El Paso areas.
