For more than two decades, the Mexican rock<\/a> band Enjambre has explored the issues in their surroundings and translated them into music, and it is with their latest album, *Da\u00f1os Luz*, that they dare to tackle \u201cthe mental health crisis\u201d exacerbated by the digital age.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re seeing a time when there\u2019s a mental health crisis caused by exposure to so much information: we\u2019re letting our imaginations run wild and self-diagnosing,\u201d says the band\u2019s lead singer and songwriter, Luis Humberto Navejas, in a conversation with EFE about the song \u201cVida en el espectro,\u201d a critique of false virtual realities.<\/p>\n

In that regard, the singer-songwriter argues that there is a certain danger in social media having a greater influence on our daily lives than our own families\u2014a concern that also comes up in \u201cVivos\u201d and \u201cV\u00ednculo.\u201d<\/p>\n

Navejas arrives in Mexico, along with the other four members of the group, after \u201cworking hard\u201d in Spain, where they performed four shows\u2014two of which stood out thanks to the Spanish band Viva Suecia joining them on stage, with whom they also released a new version of \u201cDolor y gloria\u201d from the album *Hecho en tiempos de paz* (2025).<\/p>\n

With the excitement still lingering in his heart, the singer says that this return to his home country is marked by two surprises. The first is that Madrid has become a stronghold for Enjambre, as it\u2019s a city where \u201cpeople already know who we are\u201d and to which he promises, \u201cWe\u2019re going to come back.\u201d<\/p>\n

The second is that, for the first time, they will make their solo debut at the GNP Seguros Stadium (formerly Foro Sol), one of the country\u2019s largest music venues and the site of several editions of the Vive Latino festival\u2014such as in 2023, when they shared the stage with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were on tour there (in Spain) and it took us by surprise. In less than a week, we decided to add a second show because the tickets sold out,\u201d says Navejas about his performances at the GNP, the first on August 29 and the second on August 30.<\/p>\n

The band, originally from Fresnillo in the Mexican state of Zacatecas and formed in California (U.S.), in 2001, has promised that on those two dates they will present the audience with the most extensive and varied setlist of their entire career, which could exceed the 30 songs included in a discography spanning nine studio albums.<\/p>\n

The \u201cDa\u00f1os Luz\u201d tour kicked off at this year\u2019s Vive Latino festival, and has included performances in the United States, where the band seeks to provide a \u201csafe space\u201d for young Latin Americans attending the concerts amid an immigration crisis sparked by Donald Trump\u2019s return to the White House.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a safe space where people can come to sing and express themselves without having to hide. It\u2019s a place to speak out, even if you\u2019re not singing a song about politics or social protest, but rather about how you feel about someone you love,\u201d he says, describing his concerts on the other side of the border.<\/p>\n

\u201cMusic has to be that ally that stays with us through thick and thin,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

The album \u201cDa\u00f1os Luz,\u201d released on March 12, has established itself as the band\u2019s return to its original style\u2014indie rock with alternative influences\u2014 after they surprised fans in 2023 with \u201cNoches de sal\u00f3n,\u201d a musical journey that combined their Latin roots with classics from their repertoire, according to Agencia EFE.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
