The New York Knicks will once again be at the center of sports and political conversation in the United States, as the New York franchise confirmed that it has accepted an invitation from President Donald Trump to visit the White House\u2014a decision that will make them the first NBA<\/a> championship team to formally accept a presidential invitation during the current administration.<\/p>\n

The news was confirmed by James Dolan, owner of the Knicks, during an interview with New York sports radio station WFAN. According to Dolan, the invitation has already been received and accepted, although the exact date of the event has not yet been set. \u201cWe just received an invitation from the White House, which we accepted. We still have to work out the details,\u201d Dolan said. Later, a White House official confirmed that the team will be welcomed on a date to be announced shortly.<\/p>\n
