The New York Knicks stormed San Antonio’s Frost Bank Center<\/a> on Wednesday and, with 30 points from Jalen Brunson, beat the Spurs 105-95 to take a 1-0 lead in the 2026 NBA Finals, the second game of which will be played on Friday at the same venue.<\/p>\n

The Knicks continued their extraordinary form and, with character and talent, sealed their 12th consecutive playoff victory after eliminating the Atlanta Hawks and sweeping the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0 on their way to their first Finals in 27 years.<\/p>\n

The Spurs succumbed despite 26 points and 12 rebounds from Frenchman Victor Wembanyama, in his NBA Finals debut after being MVP of the West.<\/p>\n

The Knicks were down by fourteen, but Mike Brown’s team once again showed maturity.<\/p>\n

At the Frost Bank Center, packed with Spurs fans, it was Ben Stiller, Spike Lee and Patrick Ewing who led the delegation of celebrities and basketball legends in celebration.<\/p>\n

Brunson scored 13 of his 30 points in the fourth period after recovering from a knee injury.<\/p>\n

OG Anunoby contributed 12 in the final segment and finished with 17.<\/p>\n

Dominican Republic’s Karl Anthony Towns contributed an 18-point double-double for the Knicks, who took home court advantage in the series.<\/p>\n

Wembanyama tried to rebel, but his 11 points and seven rebounds in the fourth period were not enough for the Spurs.<\/p>\n

Neither did the 16 of rookie Dylan Harper, who went from better to worse, nor the 17 of Stephon Castle.<\/p>\n
