U.S. national security has taken an unexpected hit, but not because of a breach in the wall, but because of a scandal at the highest levels. Michael Banks, the head of the Border Patrol and one of the key players in the Trump administration’s immigration policy, resigned effective immediately on Thursday. The official reason? “Enjoying family.” The reason circulating in Washington? An investigation for inappropriate conduct.<\/p>\n

The Washington Examiner uncovered a “Pandora’s box” when it published that Banks had hired prostitution services during official trips to Colombia and Thailand over the last decade. According to testimonies of colleagues and former agents, Banks not only solicited these services, but allegedly “bragged” about it in the office.<\/p>\n
