The Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games promise to be an unforgettable event, not only for the return of ice and snow sports to the world’s greatest stage, but also for an innovation that will mark a before and after in Olympic history. On February 6, 2026, the organization will light two Olympic cauldrons at the same time, located in two different cities, something that has never been seen before in an Olympic or Paralympic Games. <\/p>\n

As reported by the event organizers, both cauldrons will be installed at symbolic points in each venue: in Milan, it will be located at the Arch of Peace, while in Cortina d’Ampezzo it will preside over Piazza Dibona. This decision seeks to reflect the essence of these Games, which will be held with competitions and activities distributed in different territories of northern Italy. <\/p>\n

The structure is inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s famous “knots”, geometric interlaces that symbolize the harmony between nature and human ingenuity.<\/p>\n

The choice is not accidental: Milan is a city that is historically associated with creativity and innovation, and the tribute seeks to reinforce this cultural link.<\/p>\n

The cauldrons are made of aeronautical aluminum, a very resistant and light material.<\/p>\n

In addition, they were designed to open and close, protecting the flame throughout the competition.<\/p>\n

Its structure has an approximate diameter of 3.1 meters closed and 4.5 meters open.<\/p>\n

The Olympic torch arrived in Italy on December 4, and from December 6 it began its journey throughout the country.<\/p>\n

It is scheduled to arrive in Milan on February 5, one day before the opening ceremony.<\/p>\n

The ceremony will be held at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium (San Siro)<\/a><\/strong>, one of Italy’s most emblematic venues.<\/p>\n

Although the official opening will be on February 6, some disciplines will begin on February 4.<\/p>\n
