Mexico’s Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, one of the most recognized fighters of the 20th century, will return to the ring on September 12 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, against an opponent yet to be determined.<\/p>\n

Turki Alalshikh, owner of Ring Magazine<\/a>, announced Thursday on social networks the return of the fighter in a function to be called “Mexico against the world”, which will be held hours before the anniversary of the Independence of Mexico.<\/p>\n

Canelo Alvarez lost his super middleweight division titles on September 25 when he was defeated by American Terrence Crawford.<\/p>\n

After which the fighter underwent elbow surgery.<\/p>\n

Against Crawford, the Mexican showed little speed and was outclassed, which, in addition to costing him the world belts, raised the question of how much time he has left in boxing.<\/p>\n

With 63 wins, 39 by knockout; 3 draws and 2 losses, Canelo Alvarez is the best Mexican boxer in the last 25 years.<\/p>\n

After losing on May 7, 2022 to Russian Dmitry Bivol, the Mexican won six consecutive fights.<\/p>\n

But in none of them was he able to win before the limit, which he did for the last time in 2021 against American Caleb Plant.<\/p>\n
