Tom Brady, considered the greatest player in the history of the NFL<\/a>, said that at 48 years of age, he is ready to come out of retirement to play again, but as an executive of the Las Vegas Raiders, it is impossible.<\/p>\n

“I think the answer to that would be, yes, I’m ready and I could come back, but I’m not allowed to anymore because I’m a minority owner of the Raiders, so I can’t come out of retirement,” said the seven-time Super Bowl champion.<\/p>\n

Brady, now a stellar analyst for FOX Sports Network, said he was not stunned by Philip Rivers’ retirement exit.<\/p>\n

After five years of inactivity, he was signed as the new quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts, despite being 44 years old.<\/p>\n

“If Philip has been practicing and doing what he needs to do, then we will all see him at full strength and with a great showing against the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday.”<\/p>\n

Said the future Hall of Famer about Rivers’ debut in Week 15 of the NFL season.<\/p>\n

For Brady, both he and Rivers can, age notwithstanding, be back in the NFL.<\/p>\n

Because the quarterback position requires mental agility, something he was taught from his high school days with the Michigan Wolverines.<\/p>\n

“For the quarterback this game is from head to toe.”<\/p>\n

“At Michigan we had a saying, ‘The mind is to the physical as four is to one at the quarterback position.'”<\/p>\n

“The question is do you still have the physical ability to take hits, to pass, to buy time in the protection bag, if the answer is yes, you’re in,” he explained.<\/p>\n

Tom Brady admitted that as soon as he heard that Philip Rivers came out of retirement to join the Colts he joked about something that sounded crazy.<\/p>\n

“Who makes the decision to retire and then ‘un-retire’ if they are finally going to retire again – who does that?”<\/p>\n

“It’s ridiculous for Philip to do that,” he said with a smile due to the fact that he did something similar in 2022.<\/p>\n

In February of that year, Brady announced his retirement from the NFL, sparking a media frenzy that got another jolt 40 days later.<\/p>\n

Tom changed his mind when he said he would play that season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, at the end of which he retired for good.<\/p>\n
