The relationship of approximately 12 years between Shakira and Gerard Piqu\u00e9<\/a>, and their subsequent separation, caused an intense stir in the media and among the followers of both. The controversy was fueled by versions that pointed to an infidelity of the ex-football player and his sentimental link with the Spanish Clara Ch\u00eda, a topic that became a recurring theme in the entertainment press.<\/p>\n

As the days went by, rumors and the circulation of photographs prompted a public denouement: in 2022, the two confirmed their breakup in a statement.<\/p>\n

In that message, Shakira and Piqu\u00e9 expressed: “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our top priority, we request respect for (our) privacy. However, Shakira surprised by publicly recognizing a quality of Gerard Piqu\u00e9 in an interview on the Argentinean program Por el Mundo. In that conversation, she explained that her children are characterized by having discipline, something that, according to her, has directly influenced their good performance in artistic activities.<\/p>\n

First, Shakira pointed out that this behavior has been part of her upbringing: “They are both very disciplined, and that’s something I’ve taught them since they were very young,” she said.<\/p>\n

But he also made it clear that this training was not only his merit. With frankness she said: “Yes, because not from the father”. She then detailed that they are both very musical: she mentioned that Milan plays piano, drums, guitar and is learning bass, while Sasha has “a very nice voice” and participated in a school play, where he played a role in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with dedication.<\/p>\n

In another interview quoted in the text, Shakira shared a reflection on the difficult moments she has faced: “The things I feared the most would happen to me, have already happened to me. And I survived them”, affirming that the only thing capable of destabilizing her now is any situation that affects her children, whom she called “the reason for my existence”.<\/p>\n
