The final<\/a> battle of Stranger Things will pit Eleven and her friends against Vecna and the darkness that has threatened Hawkins for years, an adventure that will end a decade of work for the cast and “a wonderful journey” that is an “overwhelming but beautiful” goodbye to a cross-generational series.<\/p>\n

“We had plenty of time to prepare for the fact that we were going to say goodbye (…) but it still hits you like a truck,” says Gaten Matarazzo, the charismatic Dustin, in an interview with EFE on the occasion of the presentation at the Lucca Comics & Games 2025 fair (central-northern Italy).<\/p>\n

Saying goodbye to his character, he confesses, has been “overwhelming.” His partner Caleb McLaughlin, the loyal Lucas, agrees, adding that ending “is difficult, but also beautiful.”<\/p>\n

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers’ record-breaking creation that won over millions of viewers, arrives on Netflix on November 27, more than three years after the fourth season premiered.<\/p>\n

Its creators, Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, in words to EFE, anticipate that there will be “a lot of action” and hope that the audience “will find it emotionally satisfying.”<\/p>\n

Stranger Things 5: A closure united by bonds of friendship<\/h2>\n

It is autumn 1987 and Hawkins is still under the shadow of the open portals. Eleven and his friends share a common goal: to find Vecna and take him down.<\/p>\n

Four years have passed since Will returned from the upside-down world, but this new adventure against darkness will not be easy. No one knows where Vecna is hiding or, even worse, what her real plans are.<\/p>\n

As was the case before, the main characters struggle together because of a strong friendship and bond, and that, according to Noah Schnapp, who plays Will, is “the central core of the series:” “The relationships, being there for each other.”<\/p>\n

“I think the series shows that the only real way to live is through connection and friendship. That’s the most valuable thing we have,” he stresses.<\/p>\n

His partner McLaughlin concurs, adding that the show reveals that, “if you have friends on your side,” you can overcome internal struggles.<\/p>\n

“We all have that Vecna, that oppressor in our mind that tries to keep us from being who we are or finding the people we love. But friendship and family bring us together,” he says.<\/p>\n

The series became a pop culture phenomenon and a global entertainment benchmark, leaving its mark in video games and all kinds of promotional products.<\/p>\n

The connection with viewers was enormous thanks, according to the Duffer brothers, to the characters and the performance of actors who “are very special”.<\/p>\n

“When we cast the cast, especially the kids, we knew they were talented, but we didn’t know they were going to connect in that way until we shot the first scene in the basement. That was the first day of shooting, and at that point we thought, ‘Okay, maybe this will work,'” Matt explains.<\/p>\n

The 1980s setting and aesthetics, accompanied by a matching soundtrack and a perfectly recreated town, helped adults connect with the series, although they were not the only ones.<\/p>\n

“It’s been exciting to see that it not only connects with people our age, in their 40s, but also with young people,” he alleges.<\/p>\n

Matarazzo, 23, subscribes: “It was one of the first times a series starred kids, but it wasn’t just aimed at kids. It had mature themes, it was scary. And it also showed kids in a very real way.”<\/p>\n

The farewell to Hawkins’ fantastic adventures will be released in three parts: volume 1, with four episodes, on November 27; volume 2, with three episodes, will arrive on Christmas Eve; and the final episode will premiere on New Year’s Eve, reported Agencia EFE.<\/p>\n
