U.S. President Donald Trump announced that his administration is ready to send aid to Venezuela following the two powerful earthquakes that struck the South American country, causing severe property damage, collapsed buildings, and growing concern over the potential number of casualties.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that the earthquakes were of “enormous magnitude” and assured that the United States is “ready, willing, and able” to support the Venezuelan people during this emergency.
The president also said he had instructed all federal government agencies to prepare and respond quickly to the crisis. “The initial reports are not good,” Trump warned, referring to the initial information received about the impact of the earthquakes.

The earthquakes, measuring 7.5 and 7.2 on the Richter scale, occurred just seconds apart and caused damage in several areas of the country, particularly in Caracas and regions near the coast.
According to initial reports, numerous buildings suffered collapses, cracked facades, and structural damage.
In the Caracas municipality of Chacao, Mayor Gustavo Duque confirmed that there were fatalities, although he did not initially provide an official figure.
Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, declared a state of emergency and announced the mobilization of the entire public and private healthcare network to treat the wounded and respond to the crisis.

International concern grew after the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) issued a preliminary assessment of the potential consequences of the disaster.
According to the USGS’s PAGER system, the earthquakes recorded off the coast of Venezuela could result in a potential death toll of between 10,000 and 100,000, in addition to significant economic losses.
This estimate does not represent an official casualty figure, but rather an automated calculation based on factors such as the magnitude of the earthquake, the exposed population, and the vulnerability of buildings.

Following the earthquakes, Venezuelan authorities began assessing the damage, treating the injured, and coordinating search and rescue efforts.
The emergency comes at a time of great strain for the country, where public services, infrastructure, and hospitals were already facing significant challenges.
As the damage assessment continues, the international community is closely monitoring the unfolding tragedy and the possible arrival of humanitarian aid from the United States and other countries.
