Pop star Taylor Swift will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this Thursday during a ceremony in New York, where some of her hits, such as “Love Story” and “Blank Space,” will be honored.
The 36-year-old singer thus becomes the second-youngest person to receive this honor, surpassed only by Stevie Wonder, who was 32 at the time, and joins a list of artists that also includes Bob Dylan, Mariah Carey, Pharrell Williams, and Paul Simon.

Swift’s music career dates back to 2006, when she released her first single, “Tim McGraw,” from her debut album; since then, she has released a total of twelve albums, the most recent being *The Life of a Showgirl* (2025).
Throughout her career, she has won 14 Grammy Awards and has become the first and only person to win the Grammy for Album of the Year four times: in 2024 for ‘Midnights’; in 2021 for ‘Folklore’; in 2016 for ‘1989’; and in 2010 for ‘Fearless’.
Her songwriting has been acclaimed by both critics and her fans, the “Swifties,” and she wrote all the lyrics for the songs on her third studio album, *Speak Now*.
The singer celebrated her career in 2023 and 2024 with “The Eras Tour,” a world tour during which she performed many of her songs and grossed over $2 billion in ticket sales.
Back in 2010, she became the youngest winner of the Songwriters Hall of Fame (SHOF) Hal David Award, which is given to artists whom the jury considers to be highly promising.
With her induction into the SHOF, Swift is now eligible for the organization’s top award, the Johnny Mercer Award, which is presented to “a composer or composers who have established a track record of outstanding creative work.”

Tonight’s gala, held at the luxurious Marriott Marquis hotel in Manhattan, will feature several of Swift’s “key” songs: ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version), ‘Blank Space’, ‘Anti-Hero’, ‘Love Story’, and ‘The Last Great American Dynasty’.
Joining Swift in the Hall of Fame today are Walter Afanasieff, composer of “All I Want For Christmas Is You”; Terry Britten and Graham Lyle, writers of “What’s Love Got To Do With It”; and Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of the band KISS.
Also being honored are Kenny Loggins, known for the song “Footloose”; Alanis Morissette, with songs like “You Oughta Know”; and Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, the producer behind the hits “Umbrella,” performed by Rihanna, and “Single Ladies,” by Beyoncé.
“This year’s selection not only features iconic songs but also celebrates the unity across diverse genres. These songwriters have had a profound impact on the lives of billions of listeners around the world,” said SHOF President Nile Rodgers in a statement.
The event will also feature appearances and performances by other artists such as Dallas Austin, Sombr, Madison Cunningham, Brandi Carlile, and Billy Corgan, according to Agencia EFE.
