Macklemore Announces Tour to Raise Funds for Palestine

American rapper Macklemore announced Thursday that he will tour Dublin, Paris, and London to raise funds for Palestine after being excluded from Ed Sheeran’s tour due to his comments against the war in Gaza.

“Something has changed over the past three years. There has been a collective awakening regarding the liberation of Palestine, the power of billionaires who are trying to censor this call to action, and what we expect from artists at this moment,” the singer wrote in an Instagram post.

The “Free Palestine Tour” will take place on October 26 in Dublin, on the 29th in Paris, and on the 30th in London, and at the concerts, Macklemore will be joined by other musicians whose identities he has not revealed.

The money raised will go to organizations such as the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), Jewish Voice for Peace, Medical Aid for Palestinians, and the Gaza Soup Kitchen, among others.

“I’ve spent the last week reaching out to artists who have stepped up and used their platforms to show solidarity with the Palestinian people, regardless of the consequences,” the rapper said.

“It’s 2026. Remaining apolitical during a genocide is no longer an option. People are calling on artists to use the stage for more than just entertainment—to stand up when the call for a free Palestine faces attempts to silence it,” he said.

This month, Macklemore announced that he had been excluded from Ed Sheeran’s tour for having spoken out on stage in support of a “free Palestine” and for saying that he wanted the people of Gaza and the occupied West Bank to know that “we haven’t forgotten them.”

For his part, Sheeran attributed Macklemore’s departure—whom he describes as a friend—solely to a decision by the promoters, after several stadiums barred him from appearing as the opening act.

Meanwhile, the artists who were supposed to accompany Sheeran for the remainder of the tour left the tour in the wake of the controversy: Irish artists Aaron Rowe and Beoga, the Danish band Lukas Graham, and producer and musician Finneas announced on Instagram that they were leaving the project, according to Agencia EFE.
