Liga MX is on fire: Toluca and América lead the pack after a goal-filled Matchday 10

Liga MX went into the international break with an extremely close race for the top spot in the 2026 Apertura. After Matchday 10, Toluca and América are tied for first place with 20 points, while Chivas remains close behind with 18 points.
The Red Devils officially remain in first place, while the Eagles hold second place. América also has a game in hand, an important factor in the battle for the top spot in the second half of the season.
América catches up to Toluca

The star of the day’s finale was Henry Martín.
The Mexican forward scored three goals in América’s 4-2 victory over Necaxa at Estadio Victoria in Aguascalientes.
Necaxa took the lead twice, but Martín responded to keep the Águilas in the game.
Miguel Borja sealed the Azulcrema comeback. With his hat trick, Henry brought his total to six goals in the 2026 Apertura.
The day before, Toluca and Cruz Azul tied 3-3 in one of the most exciting games of the matchday.
The point allowed the Diablos to reach 20 points, although it left the door open for América to catch up to them.
The other big surprise took place in Guadalajara.
Querétaro defeated Chivas 2-0 at Akron Stadium, thanks to goals by Alí Ávila and Mateo Coronel.
El Rebaño remained at 18 points, while the Gallos reached 17 and moved firmly into the upper half of the standings.
Santos Laguna, Tigres, Atlético de San Luis, and León also won.

When is Liga MX coming back?

The 2026 Apertura will take a break before resuming with Matchday 11, from October 9 to 11.
Some of the most exciting matches include:
Tigres vs. Toluca, the Clásico Tapatío between Atlas and Chivas, América vs. Monterrey, and Pumas vs. Cruz Azul.
