Is she giving up? Yolanda Andrade Makes a Drastic Decision Because of Her Illness

TV host Yolanda Andrade once again moved her followers by sharing a profound reflection on the phase she is going through in her life. During a recent appearance on *Montse & Joe* and later in a live stream, the host spoke with complete honesty about her struggles, the uncertainty she’s facing, and the important decision she made regarding her medical treatment.

At 53, Yolanda said she feels grateful to continue having meaningful experiences, despite living with complex conditions such as cluster headaches and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a neurodegenerative disorder that progressively affects the neurons responsible for voluntary movement.

The host explained that the past few months have been particularly difficult, after going through more than a year and a half of medical tests, doctor’s appointments, and hospitalizations to address her health issues.

“It’s been a very difficult year for me—very, very difficult,” he confessed during the broadcast.

Yolanda explained that she currently receives part of her treatment through a second catheter and acknowledged that the progression of her condition has led to some very physically challenging days.

He said he has experienced falls, difficulty walking, and even episodes in which he temporarily loses the ability to speak, although certain medications allow him to partially regain that function.

One of the most moving moments came when Andrade spoke about the possibility of death, a topic he addressed with serenity and from a deeply spiritual perspective.

The host made it clear that she respects the work of doctors and appreciates their support, but she stated that she does not accept that anyone can determine the exact moment of her passing.

“You’re a doctor, and I respect you, but you’re not God; you’re not going to tell me when I’m going to die,” he said firmly.

She also expressed her gratitude for the prayers and messages of support she constantly receives on social media, although she lamented that some people continue to post buzzy comments about her health.

The Difficult Decision About Her Medications

Given this situation, Yolanda shared a very personal resolution that she hopes to carry out gradually. The host explained that she has decided to reduce her use of medications she considers nonessential, keeping only those necessary to manage her pain and always under medical supervision.

“I’ve decided that I’m not going to take any more medication—just the ones I really need for pain; I want to gradually wean myself off everything,” she said.

He also took the opportunity to thank his psychiatrist, his psychologist, and his Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor for their support—people who, he said, have been instrumental throughout this process.

Beyond her illness, Yolanda wanted to conclude her reflections by talking about what motivates her most: her love for Mexico and for her native Sinaloa.

The host expressed her pride in being from Sinaloa and lamented the lack of security in her state. However, she also expressed her hope that future generations will be able to grow up in a more peaceful and tranquil country.

Through her testimony, Yolanda Andrade once again demonstrated the strength with which she faces one of the most difficult challenges of her life, relying on her faith, the support of her loved ones, and an attitude of gratitude for each day she lives.
