On October 29, 2025, a serious accident occurred at a hotel located in Cartersville, Georgia, when Ronald Cruz and Kevin Diaz, two Hispanic workers, were repairing a gas line. During the process, an explosion occurred that left them with severe burns to their faces and upper bodies.
The incident took place while Ronald was working directly over the gas line. Following the explosion, both men were rushed by ambulance to Piedmont Cartersville Hospital, where they received immediate care.

Subsequently, due to the severity of their injuries, they were transferred to the specialized burn area of Wellstar Cobb Hospital, a unit recognized for its care of this type of critical emergencies.
So far, neither of them has health insurance, which has further aggravated their situation.
Treatments for severe burns are often complex, lengthy and expensive, including hospitalization, surgical interventions, skin grafts, physical and emotional therapies, as well as long-term medical follow-up.
In addition, due to the nature of their injuries, both will be out of work for several weeks or even months, with no income during that time.
