“A jersey for a lifetime”: Messi unveils the jersey that will mark his historic farewell
Por Carlos Rodríguez ·

“Last game… A jersey for a lifetime.” That’s the title Argentine star Leo Messi gave to a video he posted on social media featuring images of the special-edition jersey for his farewell with the Argentine national team, scheduled for October 6 in the match against Benin at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires.
The commemorative jersey retains the Albiceleste’s classic design, with sky-blue and white vertical stripes, though with a special twist in the details: the collar and cuffs feature gold trim instead of the usual sky blue, and both the AFA crest and his name, Messi, and the number 10 are embroidered in gold.

In addition, the back of the jersey features a lightning bolt pattern that radiates from the center of the number 10 like the sun.
It’s a nod to the “May Sun” on the Argentine crest, which frames the name and number of the soccer legend with a gradient texture effect.
The Argentine captain announced his retirement from the national team on August 31.
“I’ve given it my all. I have nothing left to give,” he said at the time, confirming the end of his international career (Filed as: Lionel Messi unveils his farewell jersey).

He wraps up two decades with Argentina

Messi made his debut with the senior national team on August 17, 2005, in a friendly match against Hungary.
He came on in the second half and was sent off just a few seconds later.
Two decades later, he ended his career with the Albiceleste with 125 goals and 68 assists in 207 games played.
These statistics cement his status as the all-time leading scorer for the Argentine national team.
Tickets for the game range from 90,000 Argentine pesos (almost $60) in the “Popular” section.
And the 480,000 pesos (about $320) for the San Martín and Belgrano Middle Stands, according to prices published by the AFA (Filed under: Lionel Messi unveils his farewell jersey).
