Brad Pitt has scored a victory in his long-running legal battle with Angelina Jolie over the sale of Château Miraval in France—the place where they were married in August 2014—and for which the actor is seeking millions in compensation.

The former acting couple, who filed for divorce in 2016, has been embroiled in a complicated legal battle, and this case regarding the sale of the chateau has been dragging on for five years.

The subject of the lawsuit is Jolie’s sale of her share of the vineyards surrounding the estate to the Stoli Group in 2021, which took place after they had already separated.

The California Superior Court has handed Pitt a victory by ordering his ex-wife’s buyers to testify about how that sale took place.

The actor always considered the purchase to be unlawful because, according to him, by selling her share, the actress broke an agreement under which they had pledged not to sell their shares without the other’s knowledge.

Pitt sued Jolie in this case, seeking $35 million in damages.

Throughout their legal battle, the actress has accused her ex-husband of trying to silence her and of using the lawsuit to cover up mistakes he made during their marriage.
