Mexican singer Carín León said Thursday in Miami that meeting former English soccer player David Beckham, co-owner of Inter Miami, is “like meeting Superman” for him, during a press conference ahead of the concert this Sunday that will inaugurate Nu Stadium as a venue for musical performances.
“Meeting David Beckham—what can I say? As a die-hard Real Madrid fan, I’m the biggest Mexican Real Madrid fan there is. For me, meeting David Beckham is like meeting Superman,” said the artist.
León explained that his admiration for the former player began during Real Madrid’s “Galácticos” era. “I think it was because of them and the Galácticos that I started watching soccer, and for me, standing in front of a master of the sport and a legend of my club—the best club in history, Real Madrid—is a defining and cathartic moment in my life, an incredibly powerful experience,” he added.

The two-time Grammy Award winner will headline the first concert at Inter Miami’s new stadium, an event he described as a historic moment both for his career and for Spanish-language music.
“Miami is a special place, and obviously, opening the Nu Stadium with a concert is something incredibly important to us, so we want to set the bar really high and pull out all the stops,” he said.
The artist said he arrived well-prepared after several weeks on tour. “We’ve been on this tour for about a month, a month and a half… we’re well-prepared, with a really solid show, a really entertaining show, lots of music, lots of partying, and quite a few guests,” he said.
“We know what a huge responsibility it is to inaugurate such an important concert venue,” he said.
He also highlighted the significance of Inter Miami for the Hispanic community and for professional soccer in the United States.

He said that it is “by far” the most Latino club in the MLS, adding, “I think the message is to give that strength to the Latino audience—today, to the Spanish-speaking audience.”
Although he admitted to feeling “a little nervous,” he said his excitement about the show outweighed his nerves. “I’m really excited… to be in such an iconic place, to be making history.”
“I think just being at the venue—at least for me—gives me goosebumps. I think it’s going to be a very, very iconic moment for music in general, for Spanish-language music, and especially for me. I think performing at the Nu Stadium will mark a turning point,” he concluded, according to Agencia EFE.
