The father of Spanish singer David Bisbal, former boxer José Bisbal Carrillo, died Tuesday in Almería (south) at the age of 84, as confirmed by the artist himself through his social networks with an emotional farewell message.
“Dad, today you stay to live inside my heart. We know that up there you will continue to be a fighter, winning all the fights in heaven,” he wrote on his Instagram profile accompanying the text with a stock image of his father as a boxer.

José Bisbal, who had been suffering from Alzheimer’s for years, passed away surrounded by his family. Born on December 1, 1941, he was a historic figure in local sports, becoming the first fighter born in Almeria to be crowned champion of Spain, a title he held seven times.
Married to María Ferre, he was the father of three children: José María, María del Mar and David.
His figure and his fight against the disease were recently made visible in the documentary on the career of his youngest son, who has always vindicated his father’s sporting and personal legacy.

David Bisbal, beloved throughout the Hispanic world, has accumulated more than eighty national and international awards, including three Latin Grammys, three Latin Billboard, three World Music Awards and two Premios Ondas.
The artist, who lives between Spain and Miami (USA), is married to Venezuelan model Rosanna Zanetti, reported Agencia EFE.
